TheArtistDoll WebRing HomepageThe Membership Guidelines
Membership in this WebRing is restricted to sites that are preselected to join, or by invitation only. You may inquire about admittance, but the criteria is purposefully different and more restrictive than most other WebRings. The detail of the rules are intended to establish the highest quality WebRing of sites available for original fine art dolls. Note that many of the rules for this ring apply not only to the quality and appeal of the artist dolls, but also to the quality, appeal and usability of the web site itself. Like a poorly framed picture, a website presentation that looks less than professional is a deterrent to those willing to pay top dollar for fine art originals. All media are acceptable. Sites that sell work are welcomed, as we hope to attract serious collectors. ATTENTION: Before spending the time to add the code to your page, and to submit your site, read ALL THE RULES and then, please contact for a review of your site. Please send the URL and your request only, no images. These rules apply as long as you wish to participate in the ring.#1 -- All site owners wishing to join TheArtistDoll WebRing must have a web site pertaining primarily to fine art dolls, one-of-a-kinds, or hand-crafted dolls. The ONLY exception to the exclusivity of ORIGINALS ONLY, is a limited-edition work of art that has been reproduced from your original. #2 -- Entry pages submitted to the ring must have the ring code on that page! You should link to your main site entrance page from there. WebRing entrance pages often contain a lot of graphics, consider making a page separate from your site content for your various WebRing codes and their graphics and then mark your entrance to your site clearly. #3 -- A link to return to the WebRing code must be in an obvious
and consistent place on every page of your site. A small text link will
do, just make it is easy to find. You need not create a special graphic
if your navigation bar uses them. Part of the responsibility you have to the ring is to provide ease of navigation. #4 -- People will leave if the pages are too slow. Slow loading
sites will be denied entry into the ring until files are optimized,
for the good of the whole ring. Any page with the exception* of your
WebRing entrance page -- in excess of 45 seconds per page at 56K modem
connection, will be considered too slow. #5 -- Sites hosted on services that add banners and pop-ups, need not apply. If your host puts the ads on your page and you have no ability to remove them, you must find another host in order to be included in the ring. #6 -- If your site crashes or does not display well in Netscape 4.x, 6.1, Internet Explorer 5 or 6, it will not be accepted. Please test your site before you ask me to. View it on as many computers as you can before asking for a review. Sites that use the notation "Best viewed with ... at ... x ... resolution" will not be allowed. We will not restrict our visitors, the site owner must take responsibility for his/her site. No one will leave and come back at a new resolution or with another browser. #7 -- Recommending downloads such as the "Comet Cursor" download, are NOT allowed. Music files that recommend a download of software; therefore, not a standard "out-of-the-box" program that comes with Windows will not be allowed. People will not go download software, install it, then return. If you encourage visitors to leave, you will be encouraged to leave. #8 -- If your site employs frames, you must adhere to the special code for sites with frames to open links in the ring code in a new window. If you are using MS FrontPage, or MS Word as an editor please test your pages by visiting an exterior link, then check to see if the URL in the address bar has changed to reflect the new site's address. #9 -- If your site has errors in JavaScripts, or features that may confuse a person new to the web, your site will not be accepted until they are corrected. #10 -- Any content deemed objectionable by the web ring owner (me) will not be allowed when you join or later, and my word is final. The ring owner reserves the right to allow or exclude any site at their discretion. If you can comply with all the rules above, for a review of your site. If your site is approved you will be directed to the page for submission and for the ring code. After your site is approvedUnrequested email solicitations to any other ring member selling or promoting any products or services (SPAM) will not be tolerated. One time -- one complaint to TheArtistDoll.com -- you are OUT. Every effort possible will be made by this WebRing to protect your copyrighted original works of art. Please post the copyright symbol ©, copyright dates and your name, with each of your works and be familiar with the Terms of Service (TOS) where your files are stored.
