Caroline Goodgion

The White Coat by Caroline Goodgion, AADA, is a one-of-a-kind fine art doll. The White Coat is a hand painted sculpture of polymer clay and mixed media.

This one of a kind art doll was inspired by our model Emeline. An erudite woman with great fashion and business sense. An inspiration to many and created with a heart of gold.

She is 13" tall with her stand. Sculpted with a two-part air dry clay and wire armature with a polymer overlay. Layers of paint create the fair complexion accented with painted blue eyes. Her hair is of synthetic fibers and "The White Coat" is from the lining of a cast off tie. Her dress is a mink colored with black accents. She comes in her own box and holds a replicated glove box.

1950 was a time when the face of America was formed by beauty and elegance. Ah, the longing for the good ol' days of simplicity ... being proper and having manners. You don't have to have lived in one of the most memorable and impacting decades of American History to know the year that's nostalgic in everyone's mind. It was 1950, the time of true elegance in all forms. White picket fences lined the streets, neighbors waved to passers-by, children rolled by on roller skates and bicycles as the sun glistened off the metal on their wheels.

1950 was a time when families prayed, ate, and played together. It was a time when women were the pillars of families. Whether by sweet comfort of hands or an eager ear women truly were the example of virtue and elegance that developed and nurtured families. They were also the face of the family. 1950 was a time when women went out anywhere into the public eye, they were sure to put their best foot forward from head to toe and dressed for the day. Pristine in a lovely dress with a complimentary hat women were prepared.

However, no ensemble was complete with out a pair of gloves. A simpler time with more earnest and careful use of means, a pair of gloves could change any outfit into a new one. A careful consumer, fashionable and creative in style, could change a white coat into a new fashion for every different pair of gloves worn.
